RANDWICK BOTANY
MAKES CONTACT WITH DAUGHTER OF SNOWY WILSON. |
/Phyllis-by-herself-s.jpg) |
Phyllis
Gilbert is the daughter of Snowy Wilson – the longest serving Secretary of
the Randwick Botany Cycling Club. Phyllis was born in Botany in 1923 and is
now aged 79. She lives in a tranquil location on Dangar Island near
Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River. Her family was one of the first to settle
on Dangar Island.

Incidentally, Phyllis told us that she took after her dad in many ways.
One does not have to be Einstein to work out why her dad was called "Snowy"
or "Snow" Wilson.

Rules for
Bicycle Riders on Roads
Often asked are questions like, "Is it legal
to ride two abreast?", "Are we allowed to take the lane?" etc
etc. I have put together a page which answers many of these
questions and provides links to appropriate legislation to find the
answers to other bicycle riding related questions.

HEFFRON PARK
CIRCUIT MEASURED AND LABELED
Many thanks to our club publicity officer, Tony Horneman, who spent hours making templates and obtaining the correct
pavement marking paint. With the permission of Randwick Council, he and I
set about measuring the circuit to once and for all put the arguments to
rest. We can report that the circuit is 2 kilometres and 40 metres
(2040 m) in length. The straight is 400 metres from the centre of
the entrance curve to the finish line. The track has been labeled at
the following points: 2000m, 1500m, 1000m, 500m, 400m, 300m, 250m,
200m, 150m, 100m and 50 metres from the start/finish line.

points indicated.
