Randwick
Botany pinned their hopes on 3 RBCC riders. Left World
Master's Road champion, Liam Kelly and the "Prince"
and one lap record holder of Heffron Park, Robbie
Cater. |

Hopes were
also held out that Shaun Higgerson, RBCC member riding
for the FRF team might succeed. Here's Shaun pictured
on the start line. Shaun told me not to expect
too much however as he has been having a good rest
since his fabulous achievements in this year's Sun
Tour. |

Above Liam and Robbie keep in contact with one another in
the early stages of the race. Robbie's ride was
nothing short of sensational as he continually went to the
front and did turns undaunted by the big names in the race
competing for the $1000 first place, including Australian
U23 Time Trial Champion Shaun Higgerson (FRF Couriers /
Randwick Botany), Australian Time Trial Champion and NSW
Roadman of the Year Peter Milostic (FRF Couriers), World
Masters Champion Liam Kelly (Randwick Botany) and Rodney
McGee (Parramatta) from the NSWIS-FDJeux.com team. The
King or Heffron Park - Anthony Spurgeon (Team Caravello)
also raced.
During the later stages of the race, it broke up and
three groups formed with
the front group recording a 2min 51sec lap mid-race.
That’s over 42kmh average speed. Robbie was able to stick
with the front runners whilst Liam found himself caught
back in the second group. Liam in an amazing effort
launched off the front of his group and looked like he was
going to get accross to the front bunch. However it
was just too fast and too far and Liam had to sit up and
wait for the second bunch to pick him up again.

NSWIS-FDJeux.com team members
Chris Sutton, Rodney McGee, Richard Moffet and Dave Tanner
worked well together during the race. In a great
show of speed Chris Sutton crossed the line first,
followed by Brad Mills (Clarence Street), Luis Trueba (Lidcombe
Auburn), Jose Rodrigeous (Eastern Suburbs) and Rodney
McGee. Rod McGee was a real workhorse out there for the
team.
