Report:

Perfect day at Calga for "The race of Truth".  Few of us did PB's which was great.  Fabulous ride by Sheryl Rotondo, who has obviously got very used to her brand new Argon 18 Element 114 Time Trial bike and recorded a time of 1hr 16 mins.

Thanks once again to Chris Greaves and Paul of the Australian Time Trial Association  who were happy for us to run a round of our club championships in conjunction with their normal first Sunday of the month program.  Thanks also to the boys for supplying us a RBCC only printout to help facilitate the placings for the club championship.

Thanks to all those RBCC members who supported the event and the club championship.  It continues to be a source of puzzlement to me to try and work out why in a club of 270 members only 20 or so turn up to do the club championships.  I would have thought that club championships is a fundamental element and indeed attraction of any club.  I have been in football clubs, surf life saving clubs, swimming clubs, motorcycle clubs etc etc and one thing that they all had in common was in-house competition for the membership in the form of a club championship and a big annual social event out of that, the annual presentation night.

I hear people say things like, "I'm no good at time trialing" etc.  Well guess what?  You never will be until you start doing it.  When I first started I couldn't time trial to save myself and now not only have I developed into a reasonable time trialist I am actually enjoying it and this year in B grade, as a personal example, we have quite a friendly rivalry happening with the top 3 places in B grade all besting each other at various venus.  This friendly rivalry sees us training together, competing together (all three of us were in the same State Team Time Trial team) and as a consequence continually improving.

Try it.  You may like it.
