Dear Randwick Botany Members, A merry christmas to all from a former member who has seen the light again and has returned to the bike after an absence of 15 years. All the best for the new year and I hope to get to Sydney and race around the wonderful Heffron Park circuit. Still my favourite place to race. All the best, Peter Budd. P.S. Good to see the straight has been returned to its former length of 400m.( and don't eat too much over christmas) Me personally, I am trying to avoid the Jan Ullrich diet this year.

i was a past member of this club, alot has changed since i had my accident in 96 i was 16, keith harris was the junior coach at the time who helped establish the juniors at the club on saturdays,it is a sad time i think to look at this site and to see his name not mentioned not once, he helped me a great deal to win in cycling and in life, he was a good man! it would be nice to mention his name or honour his name.(keith harris) David clarke mobile 0438070388 Well David, I don't think that your comments are quite correct. We just conducted our 10th Annual Junior Carnival. One of the features of the Carnival was the Keith Harris Perpetual Memorial trophy presented to the winner of the Men's Under 17 Elimination race and feature race of the meet. The trophy remains on display and takes pride of place in the trophy cabinet within the Clubhouse for all to see. It will be presented every year with the winner receiving a replica with Keith Harris's name enscribed on it. You can see the results and winner of the Keith Harris Memorial trophy at: http://www.randwickbotanycc.com/Results%20RBCC%20Junior%20Carnival%204%20Aug%202001.htm (top story on News page. If you then go to the News archieve you will find a story on Keith entitled, "Vale Keith Harris" at this address: http://www.randwickbotanycc.com/News%20archieve.htm. The Club does owe Keith a lot and we all have fond memories of him. He will never be forgotten because we will think of him every time we look at the trophy in our trophy cabinet and when it is presented every year at our Junior Carnival. - John Buckton Webmaster & President RBCC

Awesome site and club. You lot set the standards pretty high for other clubs - nationally. I watched one of your races in Heffron Park while i was in sydney for the olympics. The set-up you have is fantastic, reflected very well by this web-site, constant updates in newspapers and on cyclingnews.com. Congratulations. I know which club i would join if i were ever posted down in sydney!

Hi All Firstly thanks very much to everyone who organised the Time trail day recently I think it was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking to the future it would be great to say do them monthly, if you need any assistance organising and running these days pls. ask. Secondly I would like to thank Chris White for his article on Bunch riding, it was very useful for new members like me and I will take note in future on club rides. The most important comment he made was be prepared to offer or take criticism, hopefully though not to take too much!! Lastly I have entered some up coming open races and would like to get together with other club members to organise a co-ordinated front for the Club. It would be great if we could get together before race day and organise transport, accommodation if needed and perhaps training rides. I think the best way to publish who has entered what would be on the web site as most people nowadays have access to the web. For those who do not have access the web page could be printed and posted on the notice board at the club weekly. By doing this we can pool transport, perhaps get better deals on accommodation and at least get some training together. Any assistance I can provide would be gratefully given. Thats all for now, except to say thanks for everyone at the club for their recent efforts in bringing the club forward by trying things like the timetrail day. Mark Robertson

G'day, justed surfed in while looking at the web information on Lionel Cox. Glad to see he is still around and active. A bit puzzled at his 70th being held 3 November, half a century ago his birthday was 5 December. At that time I used to enjoy racing with him and a Botany Club member George Harris. Best Wishes to the club, Mighty web page, regards to Lionel and Shirley. Ex St George, Marrickville, Canterbury. Rider.

Just wanted to say hello to Col Macmillian (if he's still there) and Peter Radwinski, again if he's still there...I raced there in '88 and '89 with those two plus many others. I was the long haired(weren't we all then?) Canadian who terrorised the C graders. I really enjoyed myself and have been coming to Oz for the past 4 years with bike, althoughnow I'm in Port Macquarie, along with Graham Seers, and have re visited Heffron Park a few times to do laps in memory. Best regards to all there Steve

The latest news on Mike Howarth was excellent. It was a relief to know that he's survived and getting better from such a horrendous hit and run. Mike and I raced together at Heffron Park and the old Camperdown Velodrome around 10 years ago. Back then he was a competitive racer, and won RBCC A-Grade Crits with a mean sprint. He was a great sportsman and gentleman. I'd lost touch with him, and my heart sank when I read that Mike was the guy that had been hit. Mike, if you read this message, my prayers are with you, and congrats on becoming a family man! Steve Bligh (now 45 and racing again)...

Just checked out the Jindabyne chronicle. I was immediately transported back to that weekend, the pain, the achievements, the great bunch of real athletes and I wish i was still there. Recommend members think about it for next time and visitors to the site think about joining up to partake.

I will be arriving in Sydney on Jan. 8th, '03. I am looking forward to some warm weather riding and to get re-acquainted with some riding partners from my last visit 11 years ago. So if there are any training rides open for visitors to join in during the week please email me with the subject line of "Aus. training ride!". Thanks
