REPORT

Hi everyone,

Firstly we must thank Fred Vella.  When everyone quickly made a dash home as the storm was nearly upon us after Saturday racing, Fred jumped in his truck and drove around track to pick up the safety cones, made back to club house before the terrible storm hit, he sat it out for a while in Club house before storm abated.  Thanks Fred!

Secondly would like to thank Dale Rockell for helping out with the timing of the U15s race and Bob Bykerk for coming down to assist with time recording.  Bob is keen to get the times of all the riders to help with handicapping.

Would also like to thank the Parents, in particular Peter Duncan, Stuart Sharpe & David Reed for assisting with the races, couldn’t do without your help guys, thanks.

As you know we have a lot of different levels of skills and fitness so with the help of parents etc it enables us to run races that allows everyone a fair go.

Welcome to Lauren Ballesty (U15s)  who joined our Club on Saturday, wonderful to see another female rider!

Want to say what a great ride by Hugh Stewart & Abdul Ali.  Hugh road incredibly well considering he doesn't train during the week! We will have to do something about that.  Abdul had his first experience on a ride bike, he did very well considering not quite his size, but with a little bit more practice I am sure he will grow in confidence and skill.  Jack Reed managed to hold off any attack again this week, so back to the drawing board with our handicapping!  Not sure what happened end of the mixed race as we all scattered so quickly because of storm, anyone want to take 1st Place?

Have to say all the juniors who rode on Saturday did a great job, the clouds were very ominous but we started anyway and everyone stuck to their guns and rode their race, even when the drops of rain became a little bit more threatening, but we finished all the racing and then made mad dashes to the cars to put bikes away and head off home.

I am going on a camping trip to Victoria for a month (March) so will not be down at the track til Easter.  I have organised with the Club Executive to have someone from the senior members to assist.  If the parents could continue to help out when they can with the races would be grateful.  Will be giving each of the families a call to discuss how they may help etc.

I think the main thing is to start the U15s race (8 laps) first up and then the mixed races after.

One of the great things about cycling is the people, so please make sure those who have been with the club a while give a helping hand to our new members.  There is a lot to learn about the sport of cycling, so always good to offer a helping hand when we can.

See you end of March, have fun cycling, Janette
