2005 RBCC MARSHAL ROSTER

Note: As part of our Duty of Care to racing cyclists, RBCC rosters race marshals and first aid officers EVERY race day.  This is for your own safety.  You will generally only be called upon once per year to perform a compulsory membership duty and that is as a safety marshal. Having said that, it is still not compulsory that you perform the duty personally just that you take responsibility for it getting done.  In other words, if you can get another rider or some other responsible person to perform it for you then you will be able to race with our blessing.

Unfortunately, there is a small minority who fail to attend despite the fact that they are emailed and/or phoned in advance.  This behaviour lets everyone down and could, if we were unable to find someone else to perform the duty, see racing cancelled for the day.  We have tried everything to try and ensure that all rostered safety marshals attend.  We have tried the "dangling carrot" and given marshals a free ride the next week yet a small minority still fail to attend and perform their rostered duty with no communication whatsoever.  For this reason we have had to reluctantly introduce along with the "dangling carrot", the "small stick"  In other words, if you perform your rostered duty as a marshal you will receive a free race entry to the next weeks racing however if you fail to attend without having notified the Marshal co-ordinator (Andy Hall )and/or given reasonable excuse or reasonable time to roster someone else, you will not be allowed to ride again until you perform safety marshal duty.
