REPORT
A scaled down racing program was conducted at Heffron Park, Maroubra on Saturday
19 May 2001 for the weekly Randwick Botany Cycling Club race meeting.
After passing coastal showers all morning, only a small number of riders registered. By race start time at 2.30pm the sun was shining and after an
examination of the 2km course, the commissionaire decided to run a all-in, all-division 10 lap, 20km race, neutral until the `bell' lap. Only 3 lesser grade
riders dropped from the bunch before the last lap race to the line. An exciting
sprint followed with Ross Mackay, an A-Grader from Randwick Botany Club crossing
the line first in a time of 34min 45sec. Second place went to Mark Wall from
the Sutherland Cycling Club and Patrick Jones from Randwick Botany, third.
The next Randwick Botany Cycling Club race will be conducted at Heffron Park on
Saturday 26 May 2001. Juniors start at 1pm and Seniors 2.30pm.
