REPORT Club photo aside, we set down for some serious racing. Some of the boys had done a leisurely 90 kilometre warm up ride to Waterfall and back and so were as fresh as daises. Young Chris Jenkins warmed up with a little 120km ride which took in the hills of the National Park so consequently he had very fresh legs. In spite of this, we finally beat the 3 minute barrier for the 2km time trial. Congratulations to Scotty Callum (who also did a leisurely 120km through the National Park prior to warm up) who recorded a great time of 2.58.42. Congratulations also to our resident primadonna, Matthew Lucas, who didn't want to stress those big Institute of Sport Speed skating legs of his prior to the time trial and consequently did not do the Club Waterfall ride prior to the time trial. Matthew also got into the sub 3minute hall of fame (but you are also in the shame file Matthew - just joking Matthew recorded a great time of 2.59.69 ). Commiserations to our reigning time trial champion Chris White (who also did Waterfall before) who just missed breaking the 3 minutes and came in third with a time of 3.00.14. Fourteen hundredths of a second, wouldn't that make you cry. Commiserations also to Aaron Castles who only just missed breaking the 3 minute barrier. Congratulations to our Junior Development Officer who managed a very respectable time of 3.04.01. All those slow k's with the Juniors can't be doing you too bad, Peter. Anyway guys you all have a bit of work to do as the record is 2.46. We introduced a new event for a bit of fun, an Italian Pursuit. We had four of the little ones go off followed by four bigger ones and so on. Four teams of four riders. It was very exiting into the first corner when the little 9 year olds sprinted off and dropped their team mates and everyone was jockeying for position wondering if they had got back onto the right team. It all came right in the end and we thought that the anchorman for one of the teams, David Jenkins-Flint had it shot to pieces in that his team had given him a healthy lead, however Chris Jenkins just gritted his teeth and eventually reeled in David and came in saluting the crowd like he'd won a stage of the Tour de France. You must have slept well last night Chris. I would like to thank our chefs, Fred Vella, Joanne Buckton and Julie Ballesty for the magnificent feast that they put on for us. I would like to thank David Jenkins-Flint who scurried up trees and risked life and limb to get the banner just right for the club photo. Thanks also to Paul Baker and others who assisted with the banner. I would like to thank Helen for running all the races and recording all the times and places etc. I would like to thank Scotty Callum for assisting with preparing the handicap for the seniors (incidentally Scott- you are sacked) and finally I would like to thank Adriano Maradini (senior) and the other parents at the starting line who assisted with holding the riders up for the time trial. I hope that I have remembered everyone. My apologies to those who were not informed of the changed start time. I had warned most people on the start line over the last couple of weeks that the Council had only allowed us to have the track from 11am. I apologise that I forgot to change the start time on the web page. This is the last BBQ/Time Trial day for this year. We will shortly have our Club Captain working feverishly on next years program. Now onto the results of the day:
