REPORT
A gusty 25km/h southerly breeze made riding conditions challenging during
the Randwick Botany Cycling Club race at Heffron Park, Maroubra, on
Saturday 28 April 2001. Finishing sprints down the 400m finish
strait were directly into the wind.
Phil Kellaher, claimed first place in a time of 56min 18sec in the `A'
Grade 36km scratch race. Second across the line was Chris Rule
followed by David Gowty, third. Dave Stewart crashed in the final
lap and sustained minor injuries.

35sec. In second place was Steve Hogg. Steve runs Pedal
Pushers bike shop in Clovelly Road Randwick and is a sponsor of the
Randwick Botany club.
Jaysen Brenton claimed third place. Fifteen-year-old junior Chris
Jenkins finished with the senior `B' grade bunch for the first time in his
short cycling career.
Tim Fehon stole-the-show in the `C' Grade 28km event with a spectacular
break-away 1,500m from the finish line. The remaining 13 `C' Grade
riders just could not stay with Tim who finished 50m ahead of the field -
into the headwind - in a time of 51min 35sec. Randwick Botany
regular Wayne Goold was second, followed by Brian Davis, in third place.
The eleven rider `D' Grade 20km race was won by Lindsay Monks, in a time
of 36min 1sec. Second place was claimed by Melissa Clarence.

50sec followed by Richard Jenkins and Peter Davison.
