REPORT

Firstly, congratulations once again to our Bronze medal winning Junior U17 Men's team. Congratulations to Chris Jenkins, Robert Cater, Luke Cridland and Keegan Aitchison.

Congratulations also to our Masters team. Eleventh out of 26 is nothing to be ashamed of either. Congratulations to Chris White, Mark Robertson, Eddie Bosch and Tony Horneman.

Well the Men's teams. What can I say. Bit more hill training eh guys. Irrespective of placings we flew the Randwick Botany flag and we had a good time, we enjoyed a bit of socialising and some Kentucky fried chicken on the way home and you guys certainly got a work out over 80km. The Federation site doesn't record your time but lets just say that it was just over the 2 hour mark.  I was tired just watching you driving behind. Congratulations to Shaun who had "heaps" in the tank but
rode a team race to get the team home. I know it must have been a little frustrating for you mate especially watching CJ come past driving the Saints team but don't worry, I am already working on your team for next year and it will be "hot !!"

Anyway congrats to Team A - Dean Preddy (Captain) who had a blinder, Shaun Higgerson who had a leisurely training ride. Scotty Callum who is looking for some hills as we speak and Jayson Brenton who similarly has learnt that Calga and Heffron are vastly different. I must say that the comradery of the teams was excellent. I will never forget the image of Scotty giving Jayson a little help over one of the nastier hills.

Congrats also to team B- What an effort this was. Dave Mackey (Captain), Aaron Castles, Clive Hammerson and Matthew Lucas. Well the old captain abandoned ship about the 50km mark. Bit more hill work for you Dave.  You can go out with Scotty and Jayson.  Then Aaron suffered for quite a while before succumbing to cramps so bad that he couldn't go on.  So, much to the displeasure of the support crew, Aaron called it a day and the girls had to bring him into the car. I say much to their displeasure because apparently Aaron, you have a cute butt and I have secretly learned that the girls
were quite enjoying following the B Team. Incidentally Dave apparently you came in second in this B team category.  I actually suffer from this phenomenon as well. You only have to ask Charlotte White, Joanne Hall or any other of the girls who ride behind me (and I'm told some of the blokes) when we go on the morning training rides.  But I digress.

Anyway, Clive looking resplendid on his loaned but time trial tuned to perfection, Technicomps, complete with mohair leg warmers, together with partner Matthew were not going to let a little thing like the loss of two of their riders stop them. So they just buried their heads and suffered the hard yards and to their credit finished the whole 80km and really who cares where you came guys.
You did your club proud and that goes for everyone.

I would also like to thank the support team. Richard Jenkins for assisting the Juniors team. Dale Rockell for supporting the Masters team. Joanne Buckton and Sarah Potter for supporting the Mens B Team and Scott Buckton for assisting me with the Mens A Team. Thanks also to Helen and Fred for being there and flying the flag.  Thanks also to the parents who supported their junior riders, Ken and Gai (who also assisted in the running of the event ).  Nick and Allison Cater and Keegan's father.

Ok, Let's treat this as a learning experience and let's get up there next year and let's get a few more medals and if we don't no matter because we will have given it our best and we will have had a good time, with good company and we can look forward to another good meal. (that Chicken fillet on the turkish bread is not bad from the Colonel).  I have spoken to Peter Zala and others about this and I am quite sure that next year we will be able to put two (2) Under 17 mens teams together, possibly and U19 Men's team, and a U17 Womens team.  We are hoping also to put two Masters teams together and at least 2 Men's teams.

Anyway in regards to this year, excellent work to all. Had a great time.
