The Sydney Junior Road Championships were conducted at Waratah Park on Sunday 9 June.  We did have 9 Juniors entered.  Unfortunately half the Randwick Botany cc team came down with the flu and either tried racing or didn't race.

The following junior riders were effected:

Robbie Cater (flu)

Micheal Murdoch (flu)

Thomas Murdoch (flu)

Robyn Stanning ( end of flu)

 

The small crew that was left racing had some great results.

U/11 boys

Adrianno Maradini raced well but was off the pace uphill and didn't finished outside the placings.

 

U/13 boys

Tamas Bykerk did 13 laps of track 2, a total of 12km's, after lap 6 Tamas and 3 others made a breakaway and stayed away till the end. Tamas just missed out in the sprint to finish 4th from 11 riders.

 

U/15 men

Andrew Young & Pita Vea raced well.

Both these boys are 1st year riders and slowing making their way through the field.

 

U/17 women

Britney Orr & Robyn Stanning raced fast with the leading girls putting some nasty pace on up the hill, Robyn dropped off with 5 laps to go from a 16 lap 25km race. Just recovering from the flu last weekend.  Amanda Sprat, Eve Hood & Brit raced hard.  They made a breakaway with 4 laps to go and were never contested.  In the end, Amanda Sprat outsprinted Brit using some nice tactical work, the finishing distance was no more than a cm. Eve hood did well to keep up- with the two girls.

 

So one day hopefully I will be able to coordinte all outside forces, all unknown forces and perhaps have a bit of luck so that both our top juniors may win on the same day.

For now at least everyone out there knows we have 2 of the best U/17, 1 male & 1 Female rider in the state.

 

I will keep on chipping away and see what happens.
