A Grade split into several smaller groups this week with the
three eventual leaders getting away early and staying away.
John Kenny, Robbie Cater and Simon Price worked well together to
stay ahead of the next chasing group of three riders. John
Kenny led out the sprint with Robbie Cater tucked in his slip
stream. Robbie launced an attack right at the finish line
but it was Kenny by a tyre width. Simon was happy to cruise
in for third. Simon an excellent sprinter told me later that
he was (stu....ed) - very tired. |
Kevin Black of the Sydney club moved up to B grade this week
and had an excellent race in his first run with B grade
gaining 3rd place. Good work Kevin.

Jonathon Hogard (pictured far left in results column) had a
fabulous sprint to take the win in C grade. Jonathon had a
really hard time of it trying to get to the front as a big bloke
in black gear stayed at the front for most of the race blocking
anyone from coming through. Left Jonathon pictured in the
slipstream of the big bloke in black. Jokes aside the big bloke is
non other than Rocky Fortuna who did an amazing amount of work at
the front. |
There was plenty of action in D grade
when Mark Burgess got away towards the end of the race. He was
chased by Greg Fisher and Dave Hourigan. The chasing two were
unable to catch however and that's how they finished.

The junior 10km handicap
race was pretty exciting with all riders coming together on the
last lap. Matthew Fortuna had a fabulous race staying away
from the scratchies and maintaining an excellent tempo out by
himself. It was a well deserved win. I suggest you give a
few pointers to your old man, Matthew. Here's Matthew
photographed with the family, dad Rocky and mum Anna.

Sorry about the late race report but was kind of busy over the weekend
and then put together a rather extensive report, photos, etc on the
State Team Time Trial. It was a fabulous day. You can read
all about it here.
Thanks to Ernie Smith who came out and took some
excellent action shots. Ordering details are available in the middle
of the action shots.
