It was good to see Shaun Higgerson down at Heffron Park to
have a race with his club mates Shaun has had a pretty busy
schedule lately flying down to Melbourne every week to contest the
prestigious
Tattersall's Cup Cycling Series. Some 88 of the best
riders in the country are competing for the $25,500 series win and
$4000 per race. Shaun took second place in stage 4, Tour of
the Latrobe Valley, and has moved into 6th place overall.
It was great to see him have a run around Heffron and tear
everyone's legs off. Good on you Shaun. |

Crispin Arnell performed well in the B grade race with a very good
second place behind Tom Reid from Easts. Crispin must have left
something in the legs after smashing us all in the B grade
Individual Time Trial championships earlier on in the morning.
Our resident photographer, Tony Horneman
couldn't help himself. He had to take second place in C grade.
I've told you before Tony, come in fourth so you can take the photos!
If you must get in the photo, do what I do and shake the winners hand.
Bad luck we couldn't get a shot of Kevin Huang, he shot through like a
rocket after the race.
Had a race myself this week so didn't see much of the action except in
B grade of course, so unfortunately I am unable to comment on any of
the action in D grade. I do note however that Greg Fisher is
spending a lot of time in front of the camera lately. Maybe Greg
it is time for you to test yourself with Tony Horneman and the gang in
C grade.
In an awesome display of speed, agility, grace,
tactics and bike handling skills, Anna Fortuna showed everyone that
not only is she the resident expert club BBQer, but she's also a
pretty good bike rider as well. In her first ever race, she took
out first place. At least there is someone in the family who
knows how to ride a bike ! Good on you Anna. Where are you
Julia? Hurry back, E grade is really hotting up.
Many of our Juniors were away this week at the
State titles at Bargo. However we did conduct a time trial and a
scratch race for our under 13 and under 15 riders who did not go to
the State championships. Patrick Jenner was declared rider of
the day with a very impressive 20 seconds off his PB for one lap.
He then placed third in the scratch race. We were all very
impressed with Patrick's riding. Sam Buckland and Elliot Doughty
looked like pros as they marked each other on the bell lap playing
tactics for the final sprint. In the end it was a great sprint
by both boys with Sam just edging out Elliot.
Sorry, Tony and I both racing this week so no
one to take any action shots.
