REPORT

If ever the other A graders had a chance of beating Spurge in the sprint it was today.  Anthony had a BIG drink on Anzac day and was a little under the weather.  He only put in as much as he had to to take out the sprint.

He told me later that if Robbie had tried a little harder that the "Prince" might well have rolled the "King".  "Robbie seemed more interested in knowing where Paul Rowney was and guarding second place rather than taking me on", said the King.  In the end it was King Spurge first, Prince Robbie Cater second and Paul Rowney third.  In the podium shot left, Paul proudly shows off his beautiful daughter Kaitlyn.

B grade was a hard race with lots of attacks and big gaps to bridge.  Average speed was very fast at 39kph.  In the end it was big Roger Crawford who gave the rest of the bunch a bit of a sprinting lesson.  Good on you Roger.  Second place went to Dave McHugh of Sydney Club.  Michael "Big Bird" Murdoch did well to place third, the Jindabyne training camp miles kicking in.

With ominous dark "cumulus nimbus" (rain clouds - from my geography days at school), overhead, many riders shot though early and so Tony was not able to get all the grades podium shots.  Anyway, whilst Paul Rowney showed off his daughter, new Randwick Botany member and third place getter in C Grade, Oliver Scott showed off his partner Jacqueline.  Jacqueline stood in for first place getter Alex Krawchuk who took off early most probably to beat the rain.  Second place getter, Kevin Black doesn't seem too distressed about posing with Jacqueline instead of Alex.

As for D and E grade, by the time we looked around they had all shot through.  So guys and girls if you want to get the story of all the action in your grade on the web, you have to stick around and tell us about it.  Also if you want to see your smiling faces on the web page you similarly have to stick around so Tony can capture the moment with his now famous podium shots.

In the Junior scene, two new members Spencer Bartlett and Emma Jones both competed for the first time and both recorded very respectable first times over the individual 2 kilometre time trial.

In the 10 km handicap they both surprised the more seasoned junior riders by placing second and third respectively.  Congratulations to young Sam Buckland who took out the event.
