A good roll up for racing saw
everyone attentive to my words of wisdom at the start. Well
Matty Lucas listened anyway. Seventy Six seniors and eight
juniors enjoyed a fantastic afternoon's racing at Heffron Park.
Then a few of us backed up the following morning for the Vets at
Heffron. |

Great sprint taken
out by Matt Lucas just pipping Simon Price |

B Grade saw the now
famous Sorby/Buckton manouvre tried again. Many can remember
it taking John Buckton to victory after poor Joe punctured with
about 2 to go. This is the way it works: Joe gets out
the front and drives and I watch that no one is catching us and
continually give him words of encouragement. Unfortunately didn't
work this time. |
|
.jpg) |
Well at least Joe
managed a second place anyway. It was good to see ex
Randwick Botany member Stewart Baker having a race. Stewart
hasn't raced for about 5 years but managed to sprint home for
third place. A very tactical ride by Jacob Borger saw him
take victory. |

The C grade start
line saw a few of the riders checking out each other's physiques.
Here, eventual 3rd place getter Shaun Ballesty compares his
muscles with fellow C grader Frank Shean. Obviously Frank
has been doing many more sit ups in his training program than
Shaun has. |

|

A big field of 30 C
graders looked pretty impressive. Brad Lane's big kick
eventually got him home first in the sprint. Back to B grade
soon Bradley ! |

Peter Davison,
eventual winner can be seen all in black. Alongside him in
RBCC gear is Tony Aitchison. Had to put a photo of Tony in,
as he couldn't help posing every lap. Peter had a great
ride. I knew he was going hard when he came up the side of B
Grade. Last D grader who did that was Peter Macdonald who is
now riding A grade. All I can say Pete is "Welcome to C
Grade." |

In a fantastic
display of acceleration, Anna Fortuna blasted off the line in E
grade and left the boys wondering what had happened. The
boys finally got their act together however and pulled her back.
Joe Gatt was first, Stormin Norman Jew second and Anna held on for
third. |

We don't know what he
was eating, but Frank Fortuna sat there watching the races and
chewed on something very bright and green and I could swear it
occasionally glowed under the shade of the trees there. I
think he gave some to Dale as well so if Dale starts passing A
grade next week we are going to be kind of suspicious. |

Kind of flattered by
this shot. Found it amongst Rocky Fortuna's pictures.
Obviously he saw a magnificent pair of calves on an elite athlete
and just couldn't help himself snapping off a picture. Can't
see any other reason that he would take it. |

Here's the juniors as always ever
attentive to the pearls of wisdom that I give them |

It was good to see
Emma Jones back racing together with a brand new bike. Our
expert "in house" mechanics set about fine tuning it for her.
Ritchie Jenkins casts a discerning eye over proceedings whilst
Frank Fortuna evaluates a shorter stem. Good news is that
Emma looked a lot happier on the bike after the boys had tweaked
it. |

Matt Fortuna won the
B grade scratch race and is looking better every week. Here
he is blasting off the starting line for a 2 kilometre Individual
time trial. |
Don't Forget there is no racing next Saturday at Heffron Park.
Racing is on however at Waratah Park Sutherland. See
Coming Events for details.
