JUNIORS
Some more skills this week.
Some of the new kids doing their first ever 1 lap individual time
trials. Our thanks goes to Janelle Lindsay, Tom Skulander, Herve
Boutin and of course our
Junior Support Co-ordinator
Janette Murdoch
who organised everything.

Above Herve coaches the more
experienced juniors in team time trial training skills (till he
got dropped anyway - thanks Herve)

Its a really hot day and Janelle tells the kids about the
importance of hydration and sun block.

Janette Murdoch speaks with the kids whilst Janelle looks on.

Above & below, Tom Skulander
assists the kids in the start of their first ever 2km individual
time trial

THANK YOU:
Thanks to our
Commissaires, John Buckton & Richard Jenkins.
Special Tanks to Jenny Spurgeon who manned the registration
table and did the lap count. Thanks
to our safety marshals, Dale Rockell and Pete "The Machine"
Macdonald. Thanks to Ritchard Jenkins for
deploying and retrieving all the safety equipment. Thanks to
Maria Jenkins and Allison Cater
who manned the canteen. Thanks to RJ from the St John
Ambulance.
REPORT
Reduced numbers this week due to
the heat and to the fact that many of the Randwick Botany
members were resting prior to the 1st round of the 2004 Club
Championship which kicks off with a nice easy 43 kilometre
individual time trial at Calga.

 |
High
enthusiasm and motivation was obvious before the start.
Left, Robbie Cater makes final adjustments and ensures
that his helmet is fitted snugly. Ok, I'm ready for
action. |
| |
|
|
 |
Tyron Bicknell broke the
pre-race tension by entertaining everyone with a wheelie. |
| |
|
|
 |
Anthony "The King of Heffron"
Spurgeon seemed pretty motivated and ready for action as
well. |
| |
|
|
 |
In the early laps the A grade
bunch stayed together. Left big Roger Crawford
drives them along. |
| |
|
|
 |
A series of attacks though
saw the A grade bunch break up. Here Chris Jenkins
has a go about lap 10. |
| |
|
|
 |
Team FRF could do nothing
about Dave Stewart who was just too strong in the sprint.
Robbie Cater was 2nd and Spongee came in third. |
| |
|
|
 |
The B grade bunch worked well
together. Keegan Aitchison scanned the field watchig
for any attacks. |
| |
|
|
 |
Gunnedah cyclist Andrew Riordan placed first in B-Grade
with Keegan Aitchison again finishing in the placings. |
| |
|
|
 |
The C grade bunch had no
answer when 2 riders went off the front and stayed away. |
| |
|
|
 |
Sean ONeill and Mark Burgess
from Manly worked well together to stay away. Sean
was pretty keen at this stage to know, "How many to go !" |
|
 |
Left Mark Murdoch drives the
D grade bunch early in the race. Paul Dimitriou also
did a lot of work on the front. |
| |
|
|
 |
There were several attempted
breaks in D grade. Here Paul starts one whilst Club
Captain, Janelle Lindsay goes away with him and little Tom
Patton also joins the break. |
| |
|
|
 |
If we look behind Chris "Spongee"
Jenkins's A Grade attack, we see Janelle Lindsay and
further down the road, Tom Patton. |
|
New RBCC member, Joshua Marden,
broke away with 3km to go to win the D-Grade event.
Track star Janelle Jindsay, wearing her Cycling NSW
skinsuit, can be seen above sprinting for second place
whilst further back down the road, young Tom Patton can be
seen sprinting for his eventual 3rd spot. |

 |
E grade were going so hard they were a blur.
Sorry guys, I didn't have you focussed correctly. Left
Grant Roe leads followed closely by Joe Gatt. |
