REPORT
Well perhaps the biggest presentation of the day was to Helen
Vella. Left, Joanne and I present Helen some flowers on behalf
of the club for her birthday. I think she turned 22 but she
won't tell us exactly. |
Chris "Spongee" Jenkins turned up the pace towards the later end
of the A grade race and spent about 2 laps off the front by himself
before being joined once again by Josh Marden and Stewart "Computer"
Campbell. These three remained together for the remainder of
the race before it came down to an almost track standing duel to see
who would lead out the sprint. |
| |
The attack by "Spongee" saw A grade split apart into smaller
groups. Initially Jerzy Sowa, Saxon Johns, Roger Crawford and
Steve Horn worked together before the the pace again got a little
hot and Saxon dropped off. |
With Saxon gone, Roger and Steve worked well together but were
unable to get Jerzy back. |
The Kinsela's team gave us a hard time in B grade sending one up
the road and having the RBCC boys chase them down. I'm not going to
say that any blocking took place as we all know that that is
illegal. |
I did a bit of work early before all the attacks and chasing
down breaks took it's toll and I took up my usual position at the
back of the peleton. Coming through to do a turn (left) is our
national U15 champion Luke Davison and just behind him "Mean" Dean
Preddy who eventually got away in a break with Kinsela's team member
and eventual winner, Adam Shepherd |
The B grade pace put some funny looks on some of the riders
faces but Rocky Fortuna in red was smiling as usual. Left Kev
Black sits in behind a Turramurra rider whilst Rocky, Adam
Bradstreet and eventual 3rd place getter, Alex Simmons stay close to
the front. |
| |
Good to see Big Phil Kauter back again. Phil hasn't lost
much form and was on the front driving it as usual. If you
ever need to know where the front of C grade is, you find Tony
Caruana (third wheel in picture) and then go one to two riders in
front. |
| |
Powered by the new Colnago, even Dale was doing turns at the
front. Eventual winner, John Revez is pictured left in second
wheel and no prizes for guessing who's in third wheel. |
| |
A good close up shot left of Randwick Botany's Tyron Bicknell
(eventual 3rd place getter) just behind Jonathon Hoggard as they
negotiate the 180° corner at the netball courts. |
| |
D Grade and eventual 4 place getter, George Youhanna does a turn
at the front with eventual winner, Jason Douglass in second wheel
and Brian Funston (partly obscured) in third wheel. |
| |
Randwick botany's Herve Boutin in action. Summer is coming
Herve. Time to get that razor out now that you have slipped
the leg warmers off. |
| |
Left, Mark Murdoch leads Herve down the back straight of Heffron. |
| |
E grade action with Joe Gatt and Leanne Emery just behind him. |
| |
Good to see Julia Guinan back and mixing it up with the E grade
bunch. Have you lost some weight Julia? You look a
little pinched in the face. |
