REPORT

Left, eventual second place getter, John Kenny finds himself in a sea of Randwick Botany A graders with Pat Jones leading and Jersey Sowa, Mark Robertson and Saxon Johns just behind.

The relatively calm conditions (especially for Heffron Park), meant for very fast average speeds with A grade averaging 42kph and B grade 39.5kph.

An early break in the race saw John Kenny and Michael "Big Bird" Murdoch away from the bunch.  It was short lasted however and it was not long till they were reeled in by the chasing peleton.

B grade rolls out of the start and as usual Andy Matthews was all smiles.  Chris White did very well to place 5th in the winning company.  After all, Chris I and a few others are in the 50 and over club or very close to it.

Alan Cohen, in second wheel left, rode very strongly and broke away at one stage in the race.  James Dalton in third wheel is handling B grade pretty well now and like Andy was all smiles.  Good to have the Flying Fortuna brothers in the race.  They always add a bit of humour to an otherwise serious event.

In C grade, Matthew McGoon of Dulwich Hill club was again too strong and after having done a lot of work on the front, still managed to out sprint them all for first place.  In a turn about this week it was Matthew first and Andy Hall second.

There is a general agreement between many of the older member that no one has ever seen Tony Carauna miss a break.  If riders go up the road you can put money on Tony being with them.  Left, as always Tony can be seen in second wheel marking eventual winner Matthew Mcgoon.

Wayne Goold had a good ride and finished third overall.  Wayne is pictured in fifth wheel just behind new member Dave Crampton who also had a great ride.

The D grade bunch in action.  Regular Dulwich Hill rider, Alan Sumner sits at the back.  No action shots of E grade this week.  In an upset this week, Joe Gatt was out of the placings.  Congratulations to Gerald Khoury for taking first place this week.

Well in case you all thought that our resident action photographer was better this week, think again.  Well at least there is no moon and crows shots.  The scary thing about this shot is that he said to me, "What trees?"  First we had blurred vision now what, X-ray vision?

In juniors we once again practiced our cornering skills and sprinting skills in the lead up to the Randwick Botany Junior Open which comes up soon on the 17 July 2004.
