What a fabulous course it is on Kooragang Island.  When you are sucking in those "big ones" you want to hope that you are not allergic to coal dust and other assorted chemicals.  Left Josh Marden takes the boys round one of the gently left hand corners with an ever so subtle light powdering of coal dust on it only about 1 inch (25mm) thick.  This picture is in fact late in the A grade race where Josh was the lone RBCC rider away in the break.

Meanwhile back in the A grade peleton Rollo was out the front and dictating the race and similarly enjoying the excellent conditions

Left early in the race and Josh drives it while Chris Spongee Jenkins keeps him in sight.

This is what you looked like after the race.  From left Andy "The Colonel" Hall, Marco Turner and Frank Fortuna.  Actually Frank cheated and washed his face so I have this next one below of him straight off the bike.

Yep Frank enjoyed every respiratory minute of it.

Check out the traveling black and white Minstral show better known as C grade with Frank Fortuna and big Chris Brutus Reynolds keeping near the front.

Here's our elite team going through their motivational pre-race program and a little bit of "Carbo loading"

Here's the C grade peleton sprinting.  With 2 away, the peleton was sprinting for 3rd place.  Frank blasted home in 4th which gave him 6th place overall.  Guess what??  Prizemoney was only paid back to 5th.  Poor Frank didn't even get a cake of soap.

Well at least someone got on the podium.  Congratulations to Josh Marden who came in 5th in A grade.  It was bad luck in fact as Josh had eventual winner Jose Rodriegues's wheel and dropped a chain whilst trying to change gears during the sprint.

I had no doubts in my mind that Jose was going to win. Especially when I saw Colnago Caravello Director Sportif, Dominic Caravello walk out onto the roadway on the bell lap and scream out to Jose, "This is the last lap.  Go very fast and come home before the other boys" or something like that.

  How's that boss!!

Here's Josh & Rollo early in the race keeping that hoard of Colnago Caravello riders at bay.

Club Captain Matty Lucas rolls out for the B grade event. Just behind him is Pat Naughton.

Half way through the race and Paddy was in trouble.

The valiant D grade Team.  In picture is Andy Hall, Rocky Fortuna, Tanya Newton and Paul Fortuna.  Where's Bucko you might ask well I have my front tyre rubbing on Andy's back one, sucking wheel as always.

Here's Neil and Marco dishing it up to some of those Hunter riders.

Here Rocky "The Rockstar" Fortuna sporting his fair share of coal dust.  Rocky had a great race and stayed in there till the end.  So to did Tanya who is trying to be incognito in her hat.  Where did Bucko come?  Out the ar*e as usual.

Well that's it till next year.  Can't wait to suck more of the black stuff down and enjoy the magnificent Kooragang Island.  For full race results, click here.
