WOMEN

Sky-Lee Armstrong with Kate Nicholls on the left and Leonie Aisbett on the right.  RBCC/FRF had three girls in the race with Emma James, Laura Bortoluzzi and Tanya Newton.

Emma did a bit of work at the front.  Above she is seen leading Sky-Lee and Kate over the "Pimple" at Heffron Park.  Tanya Newton rode strongly and can be seen in the middle of the bunch.

One of Emma's attacks sees Katie Nicholls straining to go with her.

Leonie Aisbett turns up the wick and starts a break from the peleton.  Katie Nicholls looks to have a look who's with them.  Further back it's RBCC's iron lady Laura Bortoluzzi who was not letting them go anywhere and eventually got the following group back on.

Sorry to the Masters Women.  I went on my warm up ride while your race was on so no pictures sorry.  Same story for the Men 6/7 an 8+.  Sorry guys and girls no action shots of you guys and girls.

U19 MEN

Twelve (12) U19 men started.  It was really difficult to pick the winner certainly not from this photo.  I shot it a little too early.  It shows Tyler McLachlan going head to head with Anthony Bennett of Lidcombe.  In the end chief judge Joanne Buckton awarded first place to Tyler McLachlan

REPORT

A rare photo indeed.  Here's our elite team together, well about 95% of them anyway.  Things are looking up as we had almost our entire team on the starting line at one time.

Elite Men on the starting line.

An early break in the Elite men saw Pete "The Machine" Macdonald away with Chris "Spongee" Jenkins. Naturally Caravello and RBCC teams were not working too hard backin the peleton.

RBCC's Nathan Page attacks and stretches out the Elite men.  It was these series of attacks that eventually saw the Elite men split into several groups.

Seemed like everytime I clicked the camera Pagey was on the attack.

And again!  Nathan Page is off.  Nathan had a blinder of a race and eventually got himself and team mate Josh Marden in the lead break.

Brian Appleyard left cruises in for victory just coming up on the back of some lapped riders.  Appleyard was blessed to win this race.  He was caught a long way behind the lead bunch which already had Colnago/Carvello rider Pete "the machine" Macdonald in it,

when the 2 U23 Colnago Caravello riders, George Bunt and Ben Isaksen started working like trojans swapping off turns to bridge the gap.  It was a mighty feat given that I heard our guys Nathan & Josh as they went passed me saying "Don't let them get across" as they swapped off turns trying to maintain the gap.  Where was Director Sportif Dominic Caravello ?????

With Ben "Last of the Mohicans" Isaksen and Brian Appleyard up the road, 3rd place came down to a bunch sprint.  Left Brad Mills narrowly edges out RBCC/FRF rider Josh Marden.  With Ben taking 1st U23 position, Brad and Josh got on the elite podium in 2nd and 3rd place respecively alongside Appleyard.

Now the real action was back in the Masters 4/5.  Here's the guys on the line just prior to the start.

Left Jack Yuen of Waratah Vets plays a bit of cat and mouse at the front of the peleton.  Chris "Whitey" White did not move far from Steve Darracott's wheel.

I thought I would stir them up early so I hit off the front.  Lucky for me Tony Anicito came across the gap so I had a wheel to suck.

Wasn't long before big Steve Darracott turned up the wick and got away working with Tony Iannicito.

The chasing bunch was down to 4 riders (well 3 really as Ian Lovell wan't going to do much with team mate Darracott up the road).  It was good however to have 2 RBCC/FRF riders in the second bunch

At some point towards the end of the race big Steve decided that he did not need Tony any more so he let Tony have a nice long turn out the front.  I saw Tony flicking his elbow several times indicating  for Steve to come around and do a turn.

Steve came around alright.  He waited till Tony was just about spent and then came around out of the saddle about 50kph and poor Tony was left in no man's land.

In the end, Steve was so far in front he must have been lonely as he crossed the line.

Tony Iannicito was able to recover and settle down and ride a good time trial pace to stay away from the bunch and cruise in for a well deserved second place.

The Masters 4-5 sprint came down to a 3 way sprint for 3rd place with Ian Lovell narrowly edging out Chris White for the Bronze medal, with Penrith's Michael Stacey 5th and Neil Morris finishing further back in 6th.

RBCC had a pretty good showing in Masters 2/3 with Pat Naughton, Mark "The Slapper" Robertson, Craig "Canada" Klement, Rocky "The Rockstar" Fortuna and Andy "The Colonel" Hall,  Kev "The Body" Black, Karl "Body2" Bellamy, Crispin "Fixed Gear" Arnell Mark O'connor, Andrew Kirk and John Bowles.

Things were looking good for RBCC in the early stages of the Masters 2/3 with Pat Naughton and Andy "The Colonel" Hall away in the break.  Pictured also is Lidcombe's Charlie "Big Guns" Tofler who had a little bit of a mishap through one of Heffron's tight corners.

The chasing peleton and Little Slapper rode like a man possessed.

Bell lap and Eddie Sallas drops the hammer and gives the reinforces to all and sundry what a true champion he is.  Dave McHugh SCC/Kinsellas Hotel had a fabulous race and kept Eddie very honest for a fine second place.

Left, here's Dave early in the piece with RBCC/FRF's Kevie Black keeping an eye on Dave and keeping close to the front.

Pat Naughton finished just off the podium in 4th place but had a fine race just unable to go with Eddie and Dave when they took off on the bell lap.

In the end Eddie Sallas cruised home with quite a comfortable lead from Dave McHugh in second place.

Eddie's little daughter was pretty happy with Dad's victory as well.
