REPORT
Robbie Cater
attacks and looks around to see what damage he has caused.
Yep shook another one. Poor Steve Ofanis pulls up
stumps. Take it easy up there guys will you. All these
guys you are shaking off are lining up next week in B Grade! |
| |
Here's a rare
sight. John Kenny on the front!! Just kidding John.
You had your work cut out for you with 4 of the RBCC Elite
team away with you. |
| |
A grade sprint
and John Kenny goes head to head with newly crowned one lap
ITT champion, Josh Marden. The one lap record stood
for 10 years with Jeff "Doc" Jones at 2.46. Then last
year Robbie Cater went out and casually shaved 3 seconds off
that with a 2.43 |
I thought that 2.43 would stand for another 10 years but
Josh Marden went out this very morning during our club ITT
comp and recorded a 2 mins 40sec casually shaving another 3
seconds off it. Needless to say Josh won the sprint. |

Here's Mick "Big
Bird" Murdoch driving a break of 3 off the front of B grade.
Also in the break, one of our Juniors Tyron Bicknell.
Both the boys had a fabulous face. In the background Craig "Demmo"
Demsey fights hard to get across to the break |
| |
About a lap
later and Craig "I'm a little too weak to ride A grade"
Demsey has managed to get across a huge break and together
with Tyron and Big Bird has managed to drop the Sydney rider
who was away with them. |
That's C grade behind them by
the way. The B grade peleton can be seen further back
in the distance. |
| |
Even though the boys were out there a long
time, the peleton worked well together and eventually got
them back for a bunch sprint. It looked like Michael Murdoch
had it but Dave McHugh from Sydney club threw everything at
him and just pipped him on the line |
with Big Roger
Crawford coming in for third. Hey Michael not bad sprinting,
there's not many who can say they have beaten Big Rog in a
sprint. |
| |
The C grade peleton packed in tight when all
of a sudden Tony "De Buggar" Aithchison gets out of
the saddle and stirs them up with an attack up the outside. |
| |
The action was a little too slow for big
Craig Blundell so he just rode off the front. Few laps
later though I noticed big Craig had his head down possibly
checking to see that he had not picked up an anchor. |
This is a great shot. I took my life
in my hands to get it but in the excitment, I forgot one
thing and that was to include the white finish line in the
shot. So I was unable to assist Commissaire Helen
Vella with a photo finish so we called it a draw between
Matt McGoon of Dulwich Hill and Chris Wright of Sydney. |
George "Zipps" Youhanna of RBCC
had a great race and cruised in for third. Boy it was
close!! |
| |
D grade action
and RBCC's Glen Divine, who eventually placed second, leads
the peleton down the 450 metre straight of Heffron Park. |
| |
E grade action
and it's good to see Grant Roe back on the bike and enjoying
his racing. |
| |
Few laps later
however, the girls wound up the pace and the boys can be
seen dropping off the back. That's how they finished
with the two Manly Warringha girls Julie Skribbins and
Elisha Rose, first and second and RBCC's Leanne Emery third. |
