Randwick
Botany Cycling Club welcomed back club member Shaun
Higgerson to Heffron Park, after spending most of 2004 with
the France based Bienvenue sur le site du CFC 07 team Credit
Agricole team. During 2005 Higgerson will be seen racing
with the Victorian based MG XPower presented by BigPond
team. The team is supported by MG Cars and Telstra BigPond
and competed in the recent Australian Open Road Championship
in South Australia. |
Higgerson placed third in a high
profile A-Grade race on Saturday 22 January 2005. Dave Tracey (Randwick
Botany/FRF Couriers) and Paul Rowney (Eastern Suburbs) broke
away early in the 36km event, but were all together again at the
half-way mark. Nick Wood (Randwick Botany/FRF Couriers) and
Rowney sneaked away during the second half of the race and
stayed away to fight out a fast sprint. Rowney crossed first
followed by Wood, Higgerson, Tracy, David Stewart (Eastern
Suburbs), Steve Orfanos (Sydney) and Nick Rathborne (Eastern
Suburbs).
Andy Hall (Randwick Botany/FRF
Couriers) was the star of B-Grade this week with a solo break
lasting most of the 32km race. At one point Hall put 30 seconds
on the chasing 22-rider bunch. He was eventually hauled back
into the bunch for a bunch sprint to the line. Final placing
were Arthur Driver (Penrith), Todd Dunn (Eastern Suburbs), David
McHugh (Sydney), Roger Crawford (Randwick Botany/FRF Couriers)
and Karl Bellemy (Randwick Botany/FRF Couriers).
Randwick Botany Cycling Club riders
are looking forward to competing in the 12th Joseph
