REPORT

It was good to see the RBCC Elite Team in one place working together.  Well most of them anyway with Brent Jenkins missing in action and Dave Treacy in Malta.  They soon dispatched the rest of A grade with the exception of Sydney rider Stan Genakis who must have been feeling  a little intimidated by the blue train.

Bell lap and the A team step up the pace and Stan watches them blast off into the distance

The A grade sprint and I knew that Randwick Botany was going to get it somehow.  Our sprint coach Matty Lucas (now back in favour after having been flogged by a B grader last week), takes it out with Josh Marden, Spongee Jenkins and Nathan Page finishing fourth.  Good work lads.

Someone turned the wick up in the B grade event and suddenly there were a series of 3 to 4 rider bunches chasing each other.  I was very interested in what would be the secret "Whitey Manoeuvre" this week (you may recall they have failed miserably the last two weeks).  This week Chris "Whitey" White abandoned the "I'm just over 50 and can time trial away from these 20 year olds trick" and took a leaf out of my book getting away with the lead B group and adopting the "Sucking wheel" trick.

The B grade sprint and Sydney's Richard Scriven takes it out followed by Steve Pearson in second and Whitey in third place hunched over the bars and sucking in big ones.

There was lots of "Cannon Fodder" in B grade as numerous riders went "out the back".  It looked like a Fortuna Family reunion on the pimple as they were relegated one by one from racers to spectators.

Here's Rocky "Rockstar" Fortuna going out the back.

Before even the Rockstar went, little brother Frank also went, and I am using Frank's words, "Out the Ar#*."  I think its Italian!  Anyway not a  good day for the Fortuna clan with Rosanna sitting it out, Paul being involved in the C grade bell lap incident and Frank and Rocky relegated to spectators.  I would have stayed in the race however when I saw them out the back, I had to retire quickly so I could rush into the clubhouse and get the camera to take a picture of it.

Meanwhile back in the C grade bunch, Steam's Colin Stapleton, decided to show us his triathlon skills and made a individual time trial of the event.  Colin impressed the handicappers with his fine victory and not only can he bask in the glory of the victory but also in the honour of being upgraded to B grade.

Meanwhile, back at the C grade peleton.  It was a little crowded early but come the bell lap and two corners from the end, 10 riders suddenly and unexpectedly disappeared from the race.

Sorry D & E grade but with Tony Horneman having urgent duty elsewhere (can't remember if it was to mow the neighbour's lawn or to get his Christmas card list up to date) and me doing a pre-race warm-up ride to La Perouse, no action shots were taken this week. However I did manage to snap this shot of our resident bridesmaid, Bazza Mourad once again taking second place in D grade.  Good one Bazza !
