REPORT

Randwick Botany's Stuart Colquhoun did a lot of work on the front of A grade and managed to get away off the front a couple of times.

Pete "The Machine" McDonald bridges across to Stuart in an attempt to get away.  Spongee Jenkins was having none of that though, as he turns up the wick to reel the two escapees in.

Good to see Dave Treacy back from Europe.  Dave hung in there despite the fact that he is still a little under the weather with one of the "Lurgies" going around.  Left Dave takes the A grade bunch down the start/finish straight.

Here's A grade passing C grade into the Netball courts.  Rocky Fortuna was driving me mad calling out every 2 minutes, "Come and look at this one!" as he tried to outdo my action shots.  This shot shows how he gets his "Close-ups".  I didn't realise that he was standing in the middle of the track to get them!!

By the way Rocky - They are still not as good as mine.

Nash Kent from Clarence Street takes the A grad sprint with Chris Jenkins second and Matt Lucas third.

Frank Fortuna was so inspired by George Hincapie in the recent Tour de France that he went out and bought a matching pair of glasses.  Left Frank "Hincapie" Fortuna stays close to the front.  So too does John Boles on his left.

Kev Black takes the B grade bunch into the Netball courts.  Kevie did lots of work and still got up on the podium with a great second place.

Chris Wright from Eastern Suburbs takes out the B grade sprint.  Just behind him is Kev Black followed in for third place by Daniel Vanolini.

There were plenty of attacks in all grades.  I guess that was because it was the first day in living memory when the riders were not battling a force 10 gale.  Left Tayla Aitchison attacks up the pimple.

Ian Maxwell from Dulwich Hill spent a fair bit of time off the front of C grade.  They were being a little nasty to you Ian, as the bunch came past I heard several of them muttering, "Leave him out there."  Well despite the bunch trying to make him suffer a while and then reeling him in, he still managed to get up for a fine second place behind Peter O'Connor from Easts.

In case anyone was wondering about our sponsor Vantage Freight and the corresponding logo on the front of our jersey, here is my team time trial mate and CEO of Vantage Freight, Dave "knuckles" Crampton leading C grade into the Netball courts.

No it wasn't my imagination that Dave was on the front as he passed my camera location cause next lap he was "OTA"

I can tell you that the first two letters stand for "Out" and "The".  I will leave the letter "A" to your imagination.

A close finish between all 3 place getters with Pete O'Connor first, Ian Maxwell second and John Greally third.  If you take any more RBCC prize money Pete, you will be able to give up your day job.  Congratulations Peter and welcome to B grade (from the handicappers)

The Juniors really stirred up D grade.  One of the many attacks but junior rider Aaron Bicknell reacts and jumps out of the saddle to bring the escapee back.

Big Matthew Hines, did it pretty tough in D grade.  Don't worry Matt, the handicappers have a bit of promoting to do again with lots of riders needing to go up a grade.  D grade average was over 36kph.  If C grade wasn't full of B graders, D would have caught them.  Matt was a tower of strength at the recent State Team Time at Gunning.  From the 40 odd RBCC riders who competed, a big vote of thanks to you Matt.

Barry Doosey cruises in by a country mile to take first place in D grade.  Congratulations Barry and welcome to C grade (from the handicappers)

E grade action and John Siounis takes the E grade bunch down the Heffron Park start/finish straight. No F grade today, our Commissaire, Tony Horneman, elected to combine E & F grades.  Now before I get my weekly allotment of phone calls complaining about the "Ring Ins" in particular grades, etc, please be advised that Tony's phone number is available on the contacts page.

Well that was the way it was this week.  Till next week, bye for now.............
