REPORT

This week we were greeted with a "crater" in the centre of the track near the first corner measuring about 1.5 metres wide and a half metre deep. As you may recall recently we had to cancel racing because of a blocked sewer main which had deposited a pond of stinking sewerage about 150mm deep in places, across the entire width of the track.

Well just when we thought we had seen everything we were confronted with "The Hole".  It would not have shocked me if the infant Superman had crawled out of it from his crashed Krypton spacecraft but no, a little investigation and I found out that it was apparently caused by a burst reticulated bore water main.  Thankfully, with a bit of constructive barricade placement we were able to ensure a safe passage past the hole with about 3 metres of useable track.  I asked Frank Conceicao for his feelings in respect of Tues night racing to which  he replied, "Are you blokes wimps or something.  Over in Belgium they race on cobblestones and the track is only 2 metres wide."  I guess that meant that Tuesday night racing was on as we now know that it certainly was Guys and girls.

Well this week we did have a photographer, no other than Chris "Brutus" Reynolds and he seemed to get a lot of shots of his hero and mentor. It's not hard to see that Rocky has been nominated on the forthcoming AGM.  He was out earning brownie points and trying to impress everyone

Here he is out walking the track about 1/2 hr before racing blowing all the debris off.

No sooner did racing start that we became aware of an irate resident who was complaining of some maniac who was breaking branches off council's trees in the park.  Rocky the diplomat was over there calming him down and demonstrating his diplomacy skills (more browney points).

Racing started at 2pm for D & E grades and although overcast the rain held off.  Left Grant Row takes the E grade bunch through the Squircle.

D grade action and Felix Tucci, drives the break-away.  These three won by a country mile and their exceptional ride was honoured with a promotion to C grade for next week.

By the time we started A, B & C grades at 3pm the skies had opened up.  Race distances were cut down but Pete "The Machine" Mcdonald still managed to win by his usual margin in the wet conditions

Had to wait a little while for the second place A grade sprint but it was our own Josh Marden who took it out with Scotty Callum of Easts who rode a fabulous race by the way, coming in third.
