REPORT

A regular sight over the last couple of weeks, Stuart Colquhoun attacks off the front of the combined A/B grade race.

I think Stuart would have to get the "Most Aggresive Rider" trophy for this race.  If he was not attacking, he was driving on the front of the bunch.  Left, Stuart takes A/B grade down the Heffron Park start/finish straight.

A couple of riders didn't mind Stuart doing all that work on the front because in the end it would come down to a battle of the "Wheelsucks", sorry guys incorrect term, "Sprinters".  Left Matty Lucas holds off East's John Kenny to take first place in the combined A/B race.

Apologies to Daniel Vanolini.  Results supplied to cylingnews.com were incorrect.  Daniel in fact came third and Richard Lang 4th as the picture left clearly indicates.  That's the rear end of 2nd finisher John Kenny in the foreground and Daniel and Richard can be seen sprinting for third spot.

Poor little darlings, Taylor "I am only a C grader" Aitchison and Luke "I've been a bit crook" Davision.  I thought I heard violins playing as I listened to why these "gun" juniors were not up to riding B grade.  In the end, they had remission from their collective illnesses and managed to ride the distance no problems with A/B grade and finish in the bunch sprint !!!  Caravello rider Matty Guillan was a good lad and lined up for B grade without a whinge.  Then again  they tell me Domenic Caravello has a big stick.

One of the Juniors who slipped through the cracks was U17 Junior rider Aaron "I have been off the bike for months and been sick" Bicknell who when everyone else was suffering in C grade, rode around throwing smiles at me at my camera position and having conversations with his fans on the sidelines.  There's Aaron enjoying his leisurely ride in second wheel.  Ask the girls for a B Grade number next time Aaron.  There's plenty of other under 17 riders with who you can exchange your tales of woe.

Ross Mackay nearly killed himself coming to the front to get his photo on the pimple.  I missed it the first lap round and told him to be on the front next lap.  He looked a little shattered second lap round then for some reason I didn't see him on the podium.

Rhys Fagan made it look pretty easy in the spint followed a little further back by Lawrence Robinson.

D grade action and RBCC Vice President, Tony Horneman smiles as he pours on the wattage and has their legs of his fellow D Graders screaming for mercy as he drives the D grade bunch down the Heffron Park straight.  You couldn't have softened them up too much though Tony as the two Steam riders simply rode away from the bunch on the bell lap of the race.

E grade action and RBCC's Herve Boutin (far left) is not taking any chances as he stays wide wearing his trademark elbow guards.
