REPORT

Received some feedback that the standard of A Club
racing had gone down with some riders choosing to sit in
and wait for the Open A graders to catch. So in an
effort to counter that, I amended the start times this
week to make it a REAL handicap and announced to A Club
that they had a real chance of winning if they worked
together rather than waiting for the chasers.
Seemed to work because A club really worked hard and
actually held off the hard charging A Opens who got to
about 30 metres of the back of the A clubies on the
final straight. Talk about your close finishes.
Well A Club you can't rest on your laurels just yet.
I am giving the A opens another 20 seconds next race so
you guys are going to have to keep working hard
together.

Brent Dawson took the Victory with Nick Rathbourne and
club sponsor Tony "The Bug" Corrigan coming in third.
In fact the minor places were an RBCC sponsor shootout
with Frank "FRF" Fortuna coming fourth. 1st A Open home
was Liam Kelly.

 |
The King of Heffron, Anthony "Spurge" Spurgeon
takes the Open A graders over "The Pimple". Tucked in
behind is our own, Stage winner in the Tour Of Ireland, Josh
Marden followed closely behind by the recent winner of the Ride
for Life Masters race, John Kenny. |
| |
|
 |
Its Floyd Landis, No it's Pat Jones.
Paddy hasn't raced for quite some time and doubted his form. I
convinced him to have a run in A Club and he thoroughly enjoyed
it and looked great out there. Good on you Pat, good to
see you back racing at Heffron. |

 |
Great ride in B grade from David Thomas.
David was away in several breaks then got away by himself and
stayed away. Left an early break with David Thomas and
Scotty McDonald away together. Scott also had a great race
but unfortunately finished out of the placings. |
| |
|
 |
Here's a shot of Whitey (Chris White) who is looking around
seemingly wondering, "How the hell did I get up the front" |
| |
|
 |
With David away, the B peleton sprint was for second place.
Left Adam Leserve of Illawarra just takes it from Warwick
Goldsmith. |
| |
|
 |
Eventual winner of C Grade and B grade candidate, Victor
Gaspar throttles back to pose for Rocky as C grade crests the
pimple. As usual Dave "Knuckles" Crampton can be seen
close to the front during most of the race except at the end. |
| |
|
 |
The C grade sprint and Victor made it look pretty easy.
Where's "Knuckles" now ??? Well we would need a bigger
zoom lens on the club camera to see that far back.
Don't forget gang, next week is the 50km reverse direction
race. |
PRIZE MONEY
With a significant fall in riders entries
in the winter months we have had to drop the prise money
a little, however it is still fantastic with the
handicap winner receiving $150.
