REPORT

Peter "The Machine" McDonald once again proved that he was too strong as he first of all drove A grade along dropping them off one by one, only to finally launch off the front and stay off the front and claim the $150 first place.

JERSEY SPONSORS

An early break saw Anthony "The King" Spurgeon, Alan Bozonovich , Jeff "Doc" Jones  and Liam Kelly grab a very comfortable lead off the front of the A peleton.

Wasn't long though before Pete "The Machine" came accross the break and joined the leaders

Then Pete set about being Pete as he relegated Spurge to the sidelines as a spectator and strew the other A graders about the track in ones and twos.

Here's a great side on shot of Peter's magnificent new prototype Gallium.  Peter is the test pilot to assist in making the Gallium even better which is going to be pretty hard.  I used to be a test pilot for our sponsor and distributor FRF/Excelpro but they wanted someone who could own one more than 2 days.  Can I help it that a car ran over it !!!!

Sean O'Neil and Andy Portess drive the B grade bunch.  Little did these 5 riders who were off the front of B grade know, that our resident handicapper Rocky Fortuna was hiding behind a tree (A very large tree-OK) and all 5 were instantly promoted to A grade.  Congratulations guys.  That's better than getting a horses head in your bed so quit whinging.

Next weeks A graders in action.  Sean O'Neill sucks in the big ones as new dad Kev Black follows his wheel and further back Andy Portess.

Here's another couple of next weeks A graders and to prove to you that no one gets any special attention.  Club sponsor Tony "The Bug" Corrigan (Bike Bug) you look fantastic, welcome to A grade and Frank (The "F" in FRF), welcome to A grade.  No mercy Rocky.

Just when I thought that Rocky had upgraded all the B graders that he was going to, Big Calvin Smith and Alex Simmons went straight past Sean O'Neill and instantly promoted themselves to A grade.  Well done boys and congratulations on the promotion.

Well done Andy Portess.  Andy fresh from a Tues night win, blasted off around the netball courts on the bell lap and caught the boys napping.  Having seized a nice gap on the B peleton he sprinted down to the finish line easily holding off the hard charging B finishers.  Well done Andy.

Andrew Kirk drives the B grade bunch with big Calvin Smith on his wheel.  Now 10 points for Andrew because while all the others were kicking and screaming (not to mention copious amounts of whinging), Andrew threw himself on the sacrificial sword and up-graded himself to A grade.  One of the very few in living memory.  Heard hundreds of downgrade requests. "I've been sick" and "I've been off the bike for 3 months" etc etc just isn't going to work anymore guys.  Rocky is the handicapping equivalent of "The Terminator"

C grade on the line and smiling and why shouldn't they be after Rocky upgraded many of the "ring ins" up to B grade.

C grade action and pictured in the field our handicapping C grade secret agent.  I am not going to tell you who he is but he is giving great feedback to handicapper Rocky.

Here's a picture of the Commissaire and I know I am supposed to be impartial but I thought I would get a shot posing with the winner, Pete The Machine, before the race.  Why wait till the last minute when things are hectic.

Here's a shot of Dave "Knuckles" Crampton another club sponsor (CEO of Vantage Freight) and having seen this shot he wanted me to put it on the web with the caption Dave drives C grade or similar.  However if you enlarge this photo and have a look at the outer right you will see a rear wheel and realise as I did that "Knuckles" was not driving it he was in fact losing the wheel or going OTA.  Good one Knuckles

Sorry D, E, F grade and Juniors.  No pictures of you.  Seems like we need an early shift photographer.

PRIZE MONEY

Don't forget that thanks to the generous support of our sponsor FRF and in an effort to encourage more A graders to Saturday racing at  Heffron Park, the prize money has been SUBSTANTIALLY increased.  First in A grade is $150 and $200 for the handicap winner.
