REPORT

A good A grade field this week but it wasn't long before:

Robbie Cater had them single file in the gutter gasping for breath.

Robbie just too strong in the end and took victory pretty easily.

B Grade early in the race before a group of 5 or 6 got away.  B grade was then very much two bunches.

I looked at the break and determined early that Andy Matthews was probably the best sprinter in the bunch especially given that he was riding my very fast "Ex" BH.  Andy, never in doubt, as he claimed victory in the B grade event.

Bit of contention in the C grade event.  First and foremost it should be noted that the Chief Com (me) has the same status as the referee at the Footy and/or soccer or the umpire at the cricket and as you know umpire is always right.  So please do not shout in my face and tell me that I got it wrong. If you do read up on your rules, you will also note that you run the risk of having a holiday from racing for a few weeks.  Please remember that lap counting is only a guide and the Commissaire determines when the final lap should occur with the ringing of the bell.   C Grade got themselves all mixed up with D Grade who were on their sprint lap.  Had C grade used a little smarts and rode neutral giving D grade a buffer for  their sprint, the outcome would have been different.  As it was C Grade and D grade was one mass of riders as they approached the finish line with D Grade having to sprint in and around the C grade riders.  I could not have given the bell for a couple of reasons.  Firstly because I was too busy trying to record finishers in D grade and secondly, it would have thrown total confusion to D grade had they received a bell during their sprint.  I therefore elected to sprint C grade a lap later.

So there were some very sour looking faces as they sprinted next lap to the line only to hear a bell indicating one to go.  However it is a lesson well learnt.  The sprint lap for C Grade is not at the countdown at the end of 14 laps, it is the lap after the Commissaire rings the bell.

Julian Robert-Shawe made the most of the bell lap after some of the other C graders were totally spent after sprinting on the wrong lap, and came in a country mile ahead to take out C Grade.

D Grade sprint and Matthew Glanville takes it out.
