REPORT

A Grade
Early attacks lead by Pat Jones had the bunch scrambling and strung
out early in the race. Pat put 30 odd seconds into the bunch, but
the big hitters of Robbie Cater and Sam Rutherford did not panic and
left Pat grinding away upfront. When it came to the business end of
the race Robbie and Sam closed the gap, and rode across to Pat
leaving a bunch behind. During the closing laps, Robbie and Sam put
in the big ones and left Pat to ride to the line to finish 3rd on
his own with plenty of real estate between himself and the rest of
the bunch. Sam had a little more in the tank and out-sprinted Robbie
to finish 1st and 2nd respectively.
B Grade
The early attacks were not just isolated to A grade. Allan Smith
decided to go on that attack early and put 40 seconds into the bunch
who were looking for someone to close the gap. Graham Ferguson
and Erin Chamberlain and the eventual winner Grant Bennett Lead the
charge and brought Allen back to the bunch after a few laps.
Not long after the bunch re-grouped, Grant Bennett and Erin
Chamberlain attacked and put plenty into the bunch, with the workers
away there did not seem to be anyone willing to dig in and chase, so
the gap just increased. The pace being set by Grant Bennett was high
and a little too much for Erin on this hot and windy day.

Grant Bennett left all in his wake and cruised to the line by the
length of straight and maybe more.

The placing’s were left to the bunch sprint with Dave Watkinson 2nd
and Tim Rice 3rd.
C Grade

This was the only grade where the riders rode the majority of the
race together, but the attacks were there but countered as quickly
as they started. Michael Chapmen got away on the closing stages and
was able to enjoy a solo win.

A little further back club mate James Bale took second place just
ahead of Ian Dencker, third. Joanne Upton finished in
the mix and not far from the placing’s, a good ride seeing as Joanne
stepped up to C Grade from D Grade this week.
D Grade

This was one of the fastest D grade races I have witnessed in some
time. The evidence of this was the splintering of the bunch early on
and the placing already decided except for order. Simon Berry
attacked the bunch early and rode alone for a few laps before being
joined by Guy Yarrow and Ken Challinor who worked well together to
close the gap. The three rode the latter laps together at a good
pace, but Berry had a little more than the others in the finishing
straight and opened enough of a gap to comfortably cross the line in
1st place with Guy Yarrow second and Ken Challinor, third.
