REPORT
Putting this report together, it is very pleasing
to see that the vast majority of riders are
complying with our requirement to wear club sanctioned uniform at
our Category 4 Open events (Saturday afternoon racing at Heffron
Park). Without further ado, on with this week's report by Brad
McGarry.
A cool and windy day at Hefron did not curb the
enthusiasm of the 60 odd riders who battled it out across all
grades.
A Grade saw Mat Lucas and Allan Bozunovic attack mid race leaving
the bunch looking at each other waiting for someone to take up the
chase, only one rider, Dominic Russo took on the challenge and
closed the gap, showing his recent form is worthy of his place in A
grade. Dominic showed some of the seasoned A graders how it’s done
on a challenging Hefron Saturday.

A Grade train before the break.

B Grade had a field dominated by men, but the race
seemed to be dominated by women, and strong women at that, with the
likes of Sarah Roy, Erin Chamberlain, Amber Jenkins and Sue Forsyth.
The girls were riding strong at the front of the bunch keeping the
pace high at and average around 38Kph, and showing the guys the way.

Although one guy rode off the front and seemed to
keep putting in time on the chasers (welcome to A Grade).

The sprint for 2nd was somewhat disrupted by one of
the riders clipping a pedal, and may have resulted in the girls
missing the podium, or it allowed the guys who sat behind the girls
for most of the race to position themselves and take out the sprint.
Well done girls, you’ll get them soon enough.
C Grade seemed to have plenty of early attacks which disrupted the
bunch and had some riders struggling early. The C grade sprint was
disappointing due to a chasing A grade bunch not showing the
courtesy of keeping left on C Grades sprint in the home straight.
So it is timely to say; please show the courtesy to all riders
during the race irrespective of the Grade. I think we all know the
protocol of keeping left when another bunch is looking to pass. The
A Grade chasing bunch seemed to have forgotten this today, so next
time guy’s, please think about others in other Grades not just the
ones surrounding you.

D Grade was dominated by the wind, with a few
riders struggling, but still the race managed to be tightly fought
out and resulted in a well contested sprint.
Cheers
Brad
