Report
A
break of about 5 or 6 riders in A grade managed to not only get
away from the A grade peleton but eventually lap the field.
Although average speeds were down across the grades this week,
everyone still seemed to be working pretty hard. (Sorry B
grade have adjusted your speed. Missed a lap so you were
actually pretty quick this week at 38.12 kph)
B
grade and Calvin Smith led out from a long way and seemed to
have it in the bag when all of a sudden Dave Watkinson let out
an earth shuddering scream, reminiscent of several weeks ago
when with a similar scream he went from first to third. I
think that he has perfected the scream though as this time he
launched past Calvin right on the line to take victory.
C
grade came down to a bunch gallop this week with no one away.
Austen Miller victorious in the end.
Bit
of controversy in D grade with a couple of riders being
distanced from the peleton after a minor fall. There was a
bit of debate as to whether one rider had one lap out or two but
in the end we all agree that it was only one. It does
emphasis the point however that you should make your way by the
shortest practicable route to the Commissaire and seek
permission for a lap out in relation to a fall, puncture or
mechanical mishap. It is not a given. It has to be
applied for and approved by the Commissaire. Those who
wait by the side of the track and join back in next lap with the
Commissaire having absolutely no idea as to what is going on,
could very well find themselves disqualified from the race.
Better to learn these lessons at club racing rather than having
it happen to you at a major open meeting.
Riders Please Note-
Don't forget that you must race in your club uniform, unless
entitled as a registered member of a Cycling NSW or Cycling
Australian registered or International team, to wear registered team
uniform. All male (non junior) registered team members will be
required to compete in the A grade event. Female
registered team members will be allowed to compete in B grade event.
If you for any reason wish to change your grade (as
recorded in the computer), you will not be allowed to at
Registration.
Grade changes will only be authorised by me (John Buckton).
See
you Saturday.
