REPORT

Brent Skippen had occasion yet again to usher sweet muttering under his breath as Luke Davison once again took out the A Open event.  At least this time Luke did not steal it on the line.  Luke and Brent worked well together after Dave Treacey made an early break.

However Dave was brought back and eventaully had to settle for third place.

B Grade sprint was close with Cameron Wood just beating Greg Haydon to the line.

Actually it was thought that Barry Mourad had won after he crossed the line arm rasied in victory.  Commissaires immediately launched an enquiry as Bazza had completed all laps up to the bell and we wondered how he got to be several hundred metres ahead of the bunch sprint.  Was it an awesome ride on the bell lap?  No it was CHEATING !!  Bazza was immediately disqualified and has earned points toward the 2008 RBCC Mongrel of the Year Award.

Now I hate to spin off on a tangent however RBCC members should be noting all Mongrel Acts and getting their nominations to me.  Now I should mention that the "Mongrel" is not restricted to the usual definition of mongrel, that of doing some heinous or a low act to one of your club mates.  I take you back to previous winners:

2005 Winner - Barry "Bazza" Mourad who won essentially for cheating (A CHEATING MONGREL) and back stabbing his mates.  He has this week earned substantial points toward the 2007 trophy by shortcutting on the last lap out of view of the Commissaires and then rasing his hands in victory and trying to convince us that he had won the race.  More points towards being a Cheating Mongrel.

2006 Winner - David "Knuckles" Crampton who won at the11th hour stealing the award from a real mongrel for being a "WHINGING MONGREL".  Whilst we are discussing the types of mongrels we all have, from time to time, had to put up with "Stupid Mongrels".  Knuckles won valuable points in this category in this morning's club championships when he punched the air in victory crossing the line having completed the sprint of his lfe to then hear the bell for one lap to go.  Good one knuckles.....

Last year's runner up need no introduction.  He is a real mongrel by every definition of the word.  He has been in the running for the past 3 years and has only just been pipped at the post on all occasions. His antics are so disgraceful that I cannot put them in print in public view.

Several of the riders were concerned during racing.  Some thought that the evolution of the species had taken the next step and that Killer Whales had come onto land but no, it was just the Rockster in his black & white kit, being a Sneaky Mongrel to get that top action shot.
