THANK YOU:

Commissaires John Buckton & Richard Jenkins.

Thanks to Rocky Fortuna who did Everything this week.  With Richard and Matt away, Rocky deployed the witches hats, swept the track, took out all the sponsors advertising, vacuumed out the clubhouse and took the photos.  How do I know? Well unlike others who seek to remain anonymous, Rocky handed me a list of everything that he did and, whilst pointing to my legs, "suggested" that I publish it on the web.  So from all your club mates, THANKS ROCKY ! Thanks also to Anna Fortuna for manning the canteen.  Thanks to Joanne Buckton who manned the Registration desk and to Bob Bykerk who assisted.

Thanks also to our safety marshals Pat Naughton, Leo Neil-Dwyer and partner for assisting as safety marshals. Thanks to Leeann Emery for being our First Aid Officer.

REPORT

The good news:  The Rain Stopped

The bad news:  The wind returned to Heffron.

Return it did and with a vengeance that saw most grade peletons converted to 3 or 4 smaller groups and then dribs and drabs many of whom shortly thereafter were relegated to spectator.

The A Opens worked well swapping off turns together in the gale force conditions and had pulled back the A clubbies within 4 laps.

The combined group then proceeded to turn riders into spectators until there were only about half doz left.  Two of the A clubbies were able to stay with the bunch and figured in the placings

The a grade sprint and Nash Kent takes it out followed by Joe McDonnel then came Dave Stevens and Ben Elliot both A clubbies.

Back in B grade, the old blokes gave the young blokes a bit of a lesson in staina and riding in the wind.  Above Chris White and Dave Jackson launch their attack off the front of B grade.  the two worked well together and continued to put diistand on the peleton.

About 2 to go and big Bazza launces off the front of the peleton and in his words tried to get across to the two escapees.  He had NO CHANCE but he did manage to stay away and  put 3rd place in the bag.

Final lap and Jacko was less keen on that "lets ride up the straight together idea" than was Whitey.

Of course after it was all over Bazza proceeded to tell Whitey and Jacko that he held the bunch up for them to get away.  Yeah right Bazza !!

Much the same deal in C grade with 3 escapees getting away and working well together.  In fact they rode so well that they lapped one of the C grade trailing bunches.  Of course Tony Caruana, who never misses a break, was there and finished second.

E grade action as the bunch battles the gale down the start finiish straight.  D grade was cancelled with only 4 riders who elected to have a go with C grade

Young Keiran Bull once again showed that he was just too fast in the sprint and took out the E grade event.
