Thanks to Anna Fortuna for running the mobile canteen
Yes it rained all day and yes many people
might have formed the opinion during the day that racing was going to be
off. However when you have a track with about 30 degree banking,
water runs off pretty well. At this time of the year the core
temperature of the concrete remains fairly high which similarly means
that when it stops raining any water which has soaked in evaporates
pretty quicly.
As has happened previously this year on about 2
other nights, it did stop raining and as often happens after a storm,
the wind died away to nothing. In short conditions were PERFECT.
Not a breath of wind and a completely dried track. Not a spec of
debris on the track as the rain had washed that all away as well.
The only thing that was lacking were the riders. Well about 6
showed up anyway but it was very dissapointing. If I can make one
point it would be to say: Don't make the decision not to attend or
that the racing will be called off in the afternoon. This track
can dry out in under an hour.
With only 6 riders, we had an extended warm
up/training period and then put on a 10 lap all in event as the one and
only race of the night. |
