Les Trois Vallees. (The three Gorges Ride)  Approx 110kms

Start at the Randwick Gates of  Centennial Park.  Proceed north over the Harbour Bridge to the Pacific Highway, past the Bike Bug.  Then approximately 30km along the Pacific Highway at Hornsby Heights.  We then descend via a series of hairpins into Galston Gorge to the first of the three climbs,  a 3km climb out of the gorge.

We regroup at the top and head down Arcadia Road, enjoying the serenity of the bush in this part of Sydney. Another descent takes us down to Berowra Waters, where we catch the punt (ferry) across to the other side of the Hawkesbury River. Then there's the second climb out of Berowra Waters.

By this stage we will have completed 60km and two of the three climbs. For those feeling the strain, they can opt out of the third climb and rather than turning left towards Bobbin Head, can elect to continue along the Pacific Highway back towards the Harbour Bridge.  For the rest of us its left turn towards Bobbin Head.  From there we swooped down into Kuring-Gai Chase National Park for the final climb. It's 4km long and averages around 4% - more than enough to take its toll on some tired legs. After one final regrouping we rejoin the Pacific Highway for the ride back to the Harbour Bridge or the nearest available coffee shop.
