As you are aware, for the first time last year the Club supported a Masters Racing Team. The team was funded by three sponsors being KOM Financial Advice, CPP Wind Engineering and Metrowelding. We would like to continue with the team in 2018 and are now calling for expressions of interest from anyone interested in being a part of it, noting there are up to 10 spots available.
The purpose of the Masters Racing Team is to allow some of our up and coming riders to participate in open events, gaining the experience of working in a team and learning from some of our more experienced riders. Being recognised by the club and in an official team will provide motivation and inspiration to riders. In return, the riders will be ambassadors for our club and will be mentors to our Under 19 Members.
The criteria that you will need to meet to be considered for the team is:
• Be over 30 years of age
• Be a financial member of RBCC
• Be racing A Grade on a Saturday at Heffron Park consistently
• Be able to commit to attending at least 5 open races during the year (noting these usually involve travel given they are held in country locations of NSW) and base your training around this race calendar
• Be prepared to take on a mentor role for our Under 19 members
• Participate in RBCC club rides when possible
• Participate in the RBCC Club Championships program
• Be a good team player and role model for the Club
We are delighted to announce that Tyron Bicknell has joined our Committee as a General Committee Member.
Tyron started cycling in 2001, initially being solely a mountain biker. He got his first road bike (an old, yellow steel Benotto with downtube shifters) in 2002 and joined RBCC as a junior in 2003 and has proudly been a one club man since then.
Nowadays he can be found working as a Project Manager in construction, looking after his 6 month old daughter, and playing with his two dogs! He enjoys getting down to Heffron and racing for RBCC whenever life permits, taking part in mountain bike races and going on the odd adventure ride.
Tyron is looking forward to sitting on the Committee and giving back to the club that’s given him so much over the past 15 years.
We ask you to join with us in welcoming Tyron onto the Committee.
Stay tuned for our first race of 2018 on Saturday, 3 February 2018!
Until then we hope everyone is keeping fit and enjoying their start to the year!
On behalf of the Committee, we would like to wish all Members and friends a wonderful festive season which is hopefully filled with lots of cycling, good food and some liquid refreshments as well! Don’t forget to read the latest newsletter which has all the details for the upcoming Jindabyne Training Camp and how to renew your CA Licence for 2018.
Holiday training rides start tomorrow with:
6.00am FREE Ciclismo Training Ride for RBCC Members (meet at Randwick Gates) to be followed by free coffee and champagne kindly put on by Spruce Goose (the caravan in the centre of the Park) from around 7am. The usual Thursday fast ride is also on!
Then the usual rides will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Christmas Day stay tuned for a combined Club ride that will depart Centennial Park at 7am and then a long ride on Boxing Day!
Racing will commence again at Heffron Park on Saturday, 3 February 2018.
Thank you to all members who have contributed to the Club throughout the year. We value your support and are looking forward to another great year in 2018!
Until then, stay safe and enjoy!
