RBCC Training Rides – Important

Ride safety has been at the forefront of the Committee’s agenda for some time.  A lot of work has been done by Alex, Chris, Shane and Rick behind the scenes and this culminated in our very first Ride Leader’s Training session held on Wednesday night.
The purpose of the session was to roll-out the Club Ride Etiquette and to spend some time together as a group reinforcing the importance of safety and having some experienced riders setting the example on our Club rides.  Whilst we appreciate it is difficult to assign specific ride leaders to each training ride, having a large, core group of members trained in the etiquette will mean that there will generally always be a leader on most rides.
We are excited to be implementing this for all upcoming rides!  Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this document.

Saturday Racing 2018 Volunteer Roster

Please take a minute now to check what date you have been allocated and make a note of it in your diary. You will receive a reminder email a few weeks before your scheduled date and should you need to swap please make these arrangements yourself and then advise your team captain.

Without you all our proud history of racing at Heffron Park for over 40 consecutive years wouldn’t be possible – so thank you! Saturday racing is also a big contributor to our bottom line which makes initiatives like our junior development program and cost price kit for our members possible.

Expressions of Interest – Masters Race Team

As you are aware, for the first time last year the Club supported a Masters Racing Team. The team was funded by three sponsors being KOM Financial Advice, CPP Wind Engineering and Metrowelding. We would like to continue with the team in 2018 and are now calling for expressions of interest from anyone interested in being a part of it, noting there are up to 10 spots available.

Team Purpose:
The purpose of the Masters Racing Team is to allow some of our up and coming riders to participate in open events, gaining the experience of working in a team and learning from some of our more experienced riders. Being recognised by the club and in an official team will provide motivation and inspiration to riders. In return, the riders will be ambassadors for our club and will be mentors to our Under 19 Members.

The criteria that you will need to meet to be considered for the team is:
• Be over 30 years of age
• Be a financial member of RBCC
• Be racing A Grade on a Saturday at Heffron Park consistently
• Be able to commit to attending at least 5 open races during the year (noting these usually involve travel given they are held in country locations of NSW) and base your training around this race calendar
• Be prepared to take on a mentor role for our Under 19 members
• Participate in RBCC club rides when possible
• Participate in the RBCC Club Championships program
• Be a good team player and role model for the Club

Welcome to our new Committee Member

We are delighted to announce that Tyron Bicknell has joined our Committee as a General Committee Member.

Tyron started cycling in 2001, initially being solely a mountain biker. He got his first road bike (an old, yellow steel Benotto with downtube shifters) in 2002 and joined RBCC as a junior in 2003 and has proudly been a one club man since then.

Nowadays he can be found working as a Project Manager in construction, looking after his 6 month old daughter, and playing with his two dogs! He enjoys getting down to Heffron and racing for RBCC whenever life permits, taking part in mountain bike races and going on the odd adventure ride.

Tyron is looking forward to sitting on the Committee and giving back to the club that’s given him so much over the past 15 years.

We ask you to join with us in welcoming Tyron onto the Committee.
