RBCC was well represented at the recent NSW State Titles.  It is with great pride that I tell you that EVERY RBCC member who competed went home with a State medal.  The State titles started Friday night with the first event being the Team Pursuit.  The 2010 "Dream Team" of Chris White, Barry Mourad, John Buckton & Dave Stevens took the Bronze medal in the Over 150yr event. Personally I would like to dedicate my medal to the memory of Lionel Cox.  Lionel and Brad Cox spent about 10 years working on my start and for those who thought it was bad on the night, you should have seen it back then.  A little bit of thanks has to be given to our new major sponsor, CEO of Brennan IT, Dave Stevens.  It was Dave's huge engine that got us home.  Other RBCC medalists included current world UCI Masters champions, Gavin White & Ian Aitken.  World UCI Silver medalist, John Collette and oh yes, Charles Dalyrmple-Hay.

The RBCC/ Brennan IT Team Sprint Team.  Left Ian Aitken takes out lap one then gives it over to big John Colette for lap 2 and finally Gav White brings it home.  Whilst there was a little bit of doubt in regards to the Dream Team,  the same could not be said for this team.  Whilst I did not want to put any pressure on them, they did have two reining UCI World Masters Champions and a UCI World Master Silver medalist in the team so the pedigree was perhaps a smidge higher than that of the "Dream Team".

Here's the boys in action in the sprints and firstly here's Charles Dalrymple Hay in his qualifying flying 200, on his way to a Bronze medal in the Masters 7 event. Gavin White looking resplendent in his rainbow jersey as he winds up for his qualifying flying 200 enroute to the gold meal in the Masters 2 sprint. Ian Aitkin, similarly adorned in the rainbow jersey in his sprint event.  Ian eventually took out the silver medal in the Masters 5 event.

John Collette winds up for his flying 200.  John later went on to take silver in the Masters 4 event. John fights it out with eventual Bronze medalist Michael Popplewell. The boys on the podium.

The real engine of the "Dream Team" was Dave Stevens.  Here he is with Bucko and Bazza straining to hang on in the final laps of the 2000 metre pursuit Dave got to let that engine out in the Masters 3 Individual Pursuit over 3000 metres.  Dave blasted over the distance at speeds peaking at about 56kph and took the gold medal in the event in a time of 3:35:439 Here's Bucko in the Masters 6 Bronze medal ride off.  Sadly I missed it by just under a second.

Well that's it till next weekend when the majority of us are competing again in the Time Trial and Scratch races.
